Transforming the Global Eco-Insulation Landscape

Eco Friend Sheep is getting bigger and takes the eco-insulation environment to a whole other level, both in terms of size and efficiency. Technology breakthroughs and a committed workforce will allow it to evolve into a production powerhouse that fuels economic expansion and embodies collective progress.

Eco Partnersheep Insulation SRL is a company with full Romanian capital which signed on December 18, 2023 the financing agreement with the Romanian Ministry of Economy for the investment project regarding the wool processing factory and wool sound and thermal insulation products. The project was submitted in December 2022 and was selected for funding in May 2023.

The project aims to establish the most important production capacity in Europe for the manufacture of wool-based sound absorbers and thermal insulators that are environmentally friendly. The initiative aims to redefine a previously unheard-of niche market and turn it into a model of circularity for products that are sustainable in terms of the environment, economy and society.

It is estimated that the first capacity will be operational in Q1 2025 and the full completion of the project will be in Q3 2025.
The investment of 34 million euros will be supported with state aid through a grant granted by GD 059/2022 with the public aid intensity of 75% of the eligible expenses. These investment expenses in tangible and intangible assets will be supplemented with working capital costs of approximately 7 million euros.

The newly created production capacity is a scale-up of Eco Friend Sheep and, when fully implemented, will be able to process up to 25,000 tons of raw wool. Thus, a problem of strategic importance for sheep breeding in Romania will be solved: the valorization of a by-product that is currently classified as category III waste. This investment will also solve a pressing environmental problem by using a polluting waste and transforming it into a finished product.

The factory will consist of over 12,000 sqm production hall, 3 raw wool washing lines, 2 wool processing lines into non-woven products, pelletizing and composting lines, lanolin extraction lines and industrial water treatment and recirculation station.

The factory will also be supported by a photovoltaic park for the production of renewable energy with an installed power of over 1Mw. The investment will create at least 114 jobs, but we estimate that their number will increase to 240 upon completion of the project.

This investment will solve a pressing environmental problem by using a polluting waste and transforming it into a final product.

The products obtained will be ecologically certified products with zero carbon footprint, ecologically certified in a capacity defined by full circularity.

Through this investment a problem of strategic importance for sheep breeding in Romania will be solved: the recovery of a by-product that is currently classified as category III waste.

The raw wool will come from Romania and the collection will be done from farmers through a network developed together with sheep breeding associations. The system will provide traceability from the farmer to the factory with clear planning of deliveries and payments, and above all it will take all wool regardless of quality to be processed.
